WINTER NEWSLETTER           dec 2025

 Thank you for a great season, this, my 40th anniversary of the forming and teaching of karate at Campbell River Shito Ryu. During that time I have met many great people and still have many of them as my friends.  As many of you don’t visit our website for information or keep contact with our facebook, instagram and utube channel I will do this the old fashioned way with a newsletter.

 

#1)  The Poinsettia fundraiser was a great success, organized by former student, BC team member, Winter games coach,  Director of our non profit society, and friend Serena.   Thank you Serena.   We made nearly $1000 selling 180 plants and arrangements.  As per my challenge those who sold 5 poinsettias or arrangements worth minimum$75.00 will now receive their Hoodie worth $63.   Those of you who didn’t will still be able to buy the Hoodies for $50.00  for adults and $40 for kids 16 and under, still a reduced price from the $63 they cost.  Very limited supply and sizes.

 

#2) Hoodies    Kayla Horton, a brown belt in our Adult class won the Design a Hoodie contest.  For that she received $50 and a free hoodie.  Hoodies are a limited quantity and size and can be purchased for $50.00  for adults and $40 for kids 16 and under.  They are a commemorative hoodie celebrating our 40 years of the club and are very limited.

 

#3) Year end Celebration    I’ve reserved the Campbell River bowling lanes for December 16th at 6 pm. Parents and kids all welcome to bowl or meet and greet. 

Price is free for everyone to bowl.  Pizza and drinks are available for you to purchase.

Please come and enjoy. 

 

#4)  Last class will be on Thursday Dec 18th and first class for next year will be Jan 5th 2026.  Same times and place. We will take beginners for the first 2 weeks in January for a free trial so if you have any friends please tell them about this offer.   Parents are also invited to try, maybe just weapons 2 times a month.  In Japan karate and kobudo is a form of exercise for many people in their 70s and older.  Nearly 100 million people practice karate in the world. There will be a belt test for some people on Monday Dec 15th and I will be telling people personally.  Not everyone will be

Testing.
